We are Jen & Pieter, a husband and wife team running a micro-farm specialising in humanely raised, cage and hormone-free chicken located just outside of Akasia. We are a husband and wife-run farm, sourcing only local products/traders for our chickens. We raise them from day 1 and slaughter them by weeks 6/7 depending on size. Whole chicken, braai packs, fillets etc. are available.

They are protected from the elements and love being outside. Their diet consists of a high-quality, non-gmo feed from one of the best companies in SA. When they go outside, they still get a bit of feed, but we prefer them to eat the grass and any other goodness they forage.

When they are the proper weight (over 1.5 kgs) they are processed for consumption and they are extremely tasty!

We start the chicks out inside and keep them there for 2 weeks so they can build up with immune system, we can keep them warm etc.

Then they are moved outside to movable coops that are 4m x 4m, we move them about 2 meters a day so they get fresh grass and access to the bugs (which they love) every day.
